St. Mary’s Newmarket Blood Drive Outreach
As part of our continuing outreach efforts, we attended a blood drive at St. Mary’s Church in Newmarket last Friday. Over 25 individuals took time to fill out a comment card, sharing their thoughts about the Strafford Region.
Participants LIKE the region because:
- “It’s a close-knit community where you can walk around and always see people you recognize.”
- “It’s a pretty quiet area and because of the great people and law enforcement I’ve always felt safe”
- “The Seacoast is a great area for raising a family. Love the history of the area.”
- “Good place for business, work, and competitive wages”
- “NH Seacoast is such a naturally beautiful place to live, with fantastic opportunities in education and recreation.”
Individuals also expressed that while they love the region, some IMPROVEMENTS could be made. Participants answered the question “How could the areas you like least about the region be improved?” as follows:
- “Need more affordable housing”
- “More bike trails, rails, and less traffic”
- “Better ways to engage students in school i.e. less tests, more projects, etc.”
- “More outdoor events, & more privately owned businesses(small, family type)”
- “Wish there were more walking/biking paths or trails (or even sidewalks in some towns) to make getting around without the use of a motorized vehicle more feasible.”
Including the participants from the Blood Drive, we have talked with over 950 individuals in the region! In continuing with our trend of holding at least two events a month, we are planning to attend the Middleton Yard and Craft Sale at the end of June, and the Northwood Beanhole Bash in July.
