Hazard Mitigation
Overview
SRPC has assisted municipalities with updates to their local hazard mitigation plans since 2008. Local hazard mitigation plans are a prerequisite for a municipality to be eligible to receive hazard mitigation grant funds through FEMA and NH HSEM, and the plans must be updated every five years. Â At a minimum, each plan must consider the applicability of all natural hazards identified in the latest State Hazard Mitigation Plan as adopted by NH HSEM. Â Mitigation actions are the responsibility of individuals, businesses, industries, and local, state, and federal governments. As of November 2014, all communities within the Strafford Region have a FEMA approved Hazard Mitigation Plan.Â
