Milton Sidewalk Audit
The Town of Milton conducted a sidewalk audit of downtown Milton, New Hampshire on September 24, 2025. This audit consisted of a one-day assessment of sidewalk conditions. Data collection was conducted by 10 volunteers who were assigned to groups that walked assigned routes through the Village District. The groups inventoried all issues found on Milton’s sidewalks and crosswalks. This data will be used by the Town of Milton to develop a maintenance and repair schedule for the next several years. Watch this announcement video to learn more about how this project will help Milton.
The Milton Sidewalk Audit was conducted in the Milton Village, the portion of town near the schools and restaurants along NH125. The goal of this audit is to improve walkability in the Milton Village for all residents, especially people age 50 and older.
Data were collected by volunteers and submitted through an online survey that was completed on smart phones during the audit. During the walk audit, volunteers identified 206 issues in the study area. These issues were analyzed and compiled in the Data Findings section of this report. Recommendations are outlined in the Recommended Repairs section and are high-level recommendations that are not tied to specific material costs or engineering designs.
