Parking Studies

A parking study is a great way to find out what drives parking challenges in your community. SRPC’s Parking Study service includes data collection for a parking inventory and a two day utilization study. The parking inventory includes the number of parking spaces and the applicable parking regulations. The utilization study includes hourly data collection for one weekday and one weekend day. Data is collected by a team of staff and volunteers by walking the study area each hour and logging parked vehicles. This data is then compiled and analyzed by SRPC staff.

The results of the study can be used to help your community determine what steps to take to make better use of the parking that exists and to determine whether more or less parking is needed.

To date, SRPC has conducted parking studies in Farmington (2019), Somersworth (2025), and Newmarket (2025).
